Salary Range: $75,421.00 - $87,057.00
The job of Assistant Director of Community Education is done for the purpose/s of assisting the Director of Community Education in support of the goals and mission of the department's programs and services; providing information and serving as a resource to others; implementing and maintaining technology developments for distance learning and other services in compliance with established guidelines; addressing situations and/or problems that arise on campuses or with enrolled students.
This job reports to Director of Community Education
Assists with managing a wide variety of programs (e.g. summer school programs, sports camps, behind- the-wheel program, enrichment classes, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring district compliance with established guidelines.
Collaborates with internal and external personnel (e.g. other administrators, staff, district patrons, public agencies, community members, youth sports organizations, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining positive relations, communications and ongoing support for services and programs.
Develops marketing plans for the purpose of increasing student enrollment and community awareness of high quality district programming.
Directs the implementation of designated programs and/or processes (e.g. enrichment, early childhood, 21st Century Learning grants, etc.) for the purpose of providing services within established timeframes and in compliance with related requirements.
Intervenes in occurrences of inappropriate behavior of students for the purpose of assisting students in modifying such behavior and developing successful interpersonal skills.
Participates in a variety of meetings (e.g. inter and intra district committees, community and public agencies, parent conferences, personnel complaints, etc.) for the purpose of conveying and gathering information regarding a wide variety of subjects required to carry out their administrative responsibilities.
Responds to issues involving staff, conflicts in policies and regulations, community concerns, parental and agency requests that may result in some negative impact and/or liability if not appropriately addressed for the purpose of identifying the relevant issues and recommending or implementing a plan of action that will efficiently resolve the issue.
Supervises instructional personnel for the purpose of monitoring performance, providing for professional growth and achieving overall program objectives.
Supports technology development for administrative and instructional programs (e.g. distance learning software, registration process, etc.) for the purpose of increasing productivity; meeting organizational objectives; and integrating the use and application of technology into program processes.
Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
SKILLS are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating standard office equipment including using a variety of software applications; planning and managing projects; and preparing and maintaining accurate records.
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform algebra and/or geometry; review and interpret highly technical information, write technical materials, and/or speak persuasively to implement desired actions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: pertinent laws, codes, policies, and/or regulations; personnel processes; standard business practices; program planning and development; and concepts of grammar and punctuation.
ABILITY is required to schedule activities, meetings, and/or events; gather, collate, and/or classify data; and use basic, job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined and similar processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with a variety of data; and utilize specific, job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited. Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adapting to changing work priorities; communicating with diverse groups and individuals; meeting deadlines and schedules; setting priorities; working as part of a team; and working with detailed information/data.
Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods; directing other persons within a small work unit; utilization of resources from other work units is often required to perform the job's functions. There is some opportunity to impact the organization’s services.
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 50% sitting, 30% walking, and 20% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and in a clean atmosphere.
Experience: Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is required.
Education: Masters degree in job-related area.
