Salary Range: $137,540.00 - $153,452.00
Plus Stipends: Car Allowance, Cell Phone and TSA

The job of Assistant Superintendent for Business Operations is done for the following purpose/s; providing information and serving as a resource to others; achieving defined objective by planning, evaluating, developing and implementing and maintaining services in compliance with established guidelines; and serving as a member of the leadership team.
This job reports to Superintendent.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
SKILLS are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating standard office equipment including using a variety of software applications; planning and managing projects; preparing and maintaining accurate records; and possessing strong written and oral communication skills.
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform accounting and budgeting; review and interpret highly technical information, write technical materials, and/or speak persuasively to implement desired actions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: accounting, pertinent laws, codes, policies, and/or regulations; personnel processes; standard business practices; risk management, program planning and development; concepts of grammar and punctuation; safety practices and procedures; and conflict resolution.
ABILITY is required to schedule a number of activities, meetings, and/or events; routinely gather, collate, and/or classify data. Flexibility is required to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances to analyze data. Ability is also required to work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with data of widely varied types and/or purposes; and utilize specific, job-related equipment. Independent problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data frequently requires independent interpretation of guidelines. Responsibilities include: working independently under broad organizational guidelines to achieve objectives in the areas supervised; managing a department; utilization of resources from other work units is often required to perform the job's functions.
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 80% sitting, 10% walking, and 10% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
Education: Masters degree in administration or certified public accountant preferred.
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required
Essential FunctionsProvide direct supervision and support to the Finance, Purchasing, Nutrition & Wellness, Transportation and Facilities Services directors;
Prepare, plan, and monitor the district budget;
Preparation and presentation of all reports as required by Federal, State, and local Governments, the U.S.F.R., and the Governing Board;
Provide training in budget and financial procedures and practices to the Governing Board, Employee and Parent Groups;
Direct investment of idle district funds as appropriate;
Serve as the district representative on the district selected insurance trust;
Serve on the negotiations team on behalf of the Governing Board in annual collaborative negotiations with the Paradise Valley Education Association;
Implement strategies for Business and Support Services as indicated in the Long Range Plan;
Attend Governing Board meetings and attend and serve as a member of Superintendent’s Cabinet;
Facilitate and make recommendations regarding school plant needs, the acquisition of school sites, construction and maintenance, and cleanliness and upkeep of school facilities and property;
Provide leadership in the development of short and long-range plans for business services and support services departments;
Develop recommendations for facilities and school boundaries;
Provide leadership in the development of research related to the division;
Keep informed of and interpret laws, regulations, rules, and policies affecting the division;
Prepare reports for the Superintendent as requested;
Perform other tasks as may be assigned by the Superintendent for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

- Job related experience within a specialized field is required.
- At least five years of successful school district business official experience in a public K-12 educational setting including experience in areas related to job responsibilities;
- Experience with property and casualty insurance programs and self insured trusts;
- Experience and knowledge of employee benefit programs and compliance with IRS regulations;
- Experience and knowledge of modern managerial processes and collaborative approaches to problem solving;
- Working knowledge of personal computer software for spreadsheets, word processing and presentations;
- Experience and knowledge of financial computer systems software;
- Knowledge and ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form;
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Governmental Accounting Principles and USFR requirements;
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Governing Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
