12 months, 8 hours/day

Grade 16, $16.66/hour

Purpose Statement

The job of Facilities & Construction Energy Systems Tech II is done for the purpose/s of supporting the educational process with specific responsibilities for providing energy management data; developing, implementing and maintaining continuous improvement of energy efficiency and environmental awareness programs for the district; monitoring, programming, and maintaining utility systems (e.g. solar, water, gas, electricity conservation, etc.); providing information on the operation of utility management systems; identifying repair and/or replacement needs; providing information on and monitoring all solar installations,and utility bills, and developing and nurturing a culture of resource conservation throughout the district.

This job reports to Director of Facilities and Construction

Essential Functions

Analyzes data for the purpose of writing reports and conveying information.

Compiles data for the purpose of writing reports analyzing the District's energy performance.

Conducts site inspections for the purpose of monitoring compliance with conservation efforts.

Determines the performance and energy savings for system modifications and improvements for the purpose of achieving overall objectives of the department and maximizing the use of funds.

Implements district level resource conservation plan for the purpose of increasing awareness and reducing the use of energy.

Maintains a variety of files and records for the purpose of providing an up to date reference.

Manages a District level resource conservation plan for the purpose of achieving overall objectives of the department.

Monitors resource utilization and conservation efforts for the purpose of ensuring District objectives are achieved and/or recommending additional methods of cost containment.

 

Participates in meetings, workshops, training, and seminars, as assigned for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions.

Prepares written materials (e.g. reports, conservation plans, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities and/or conveying information.

Programs energy management systems for the purpose of adjusting the programs for maximum efficiency.

Supervises support personnel for the purpose of monitoring performance and/or organizing work assignments to achieve overall objectives of the department within established timelines.

Other Functions

Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

SKILLS are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adhering to safety practices; handling hazardous materials; operating equipment used in the maintenance and repair of energy systems; planning and managing projects; preparing and maintaining accurate records; operating standard office equipment including using pertinent software applications; electrical maintenance and installation; solar installation.

 KNOWLEDGE is required to perform algebra and/or geometry; read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: safety practices and procedures; methods and materials used to program, install, maintain and service energy control systems; EMIT; solar panels and systems; pertinent codes, policies, regulations and/or laws; commercial construction management.

ABILITY is required to schedule a number of activities, meetings, and/or events; often gather, collate, and/or classify data; and consider a number of factors when using equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with a variety of data; and utilize a variety of job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is moderate. Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: being attentive to detail; displaying mechanical aptitude; meeting deadlines and schedules; working under time constraints; maintaining effective and cooperative working relationships with district personnel, students, parents and the community at large.

 

Responsibility

Responsibilities include: working independently under broad organizational guidelines to achieve unit objectives; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating with others; utilization of significant resources from other work units is sometimes required to perform the job's functions. Work Environment

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, frequent climbing and balancing, frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 60% sitting, 20% walking, and 20% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and in a generally hazard free environment.

Experience:  Job related experience within a specialized field with increasing levels of responsibility is required.                                                 

Education:    High school diploma or equivalent.
