Starting Salary: $43,781.00
The teacher is responsible for organizing, implementing, and supporting modified curriculum and instructional strategies to meet the needs of CREST/gifted students in gifted and/or general education classes. The teacher will support the core instruction teachers in monitoring academic, social and emotional growth progress for the students.
Instructs students in a Mandarin immersion classroom. Facilitates student learning for the purpose of achieving success in academic, interpersonal and daily living skills through a defined lesson plans. Differentiates classroom work for the purpose of providing students with instructional materials that address individualized learning within established lesson plans. Manages student behavior for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment. Monitors students in a variety of educational environments (e.g. classroom, playground, field trips, etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.
Administers developmental testing programs and/or subject specific assessments, etc. for the purpose of assessing student competency levels and/or developing individual learning plans. Assesses student progress towards objectives, expectations, and/or goals for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents and administration. Prepares a variety of written materials (e.g. grades, attendance, anecdotal records, etc.) for the purpose of documenting student progress and meeting mandated requirements.
Advises parents and/or legal guardians of student progress for the purpose of communicating expectations; student's achievements; developing methods for improvement and/or reinforcing classroom goals in the home environment.
Collaborates with instructional staff, other school personnel, parents and a variety of community resources for the purpose of improving the overall quality of student outcomes, achieving established classroom objectives in support of the school improvement plan.
Directs assistant teachers, student teachers, instructional assistants, volunteers and/or student workers for the purpose of providing an effective classroom program and addressing the needs of individual students.
Counsels students for the purpose of improving performance, health status, problem solving techniques and a variety of personal issues.
Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands; occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, significant stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 70% sitting, 20% walking and 10% standing. This job is performed under some temperature extremes and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.
Bachelor’s degree in Education, English or job related area. Possess Arizona Department of Education Teaching Certificate with Mandarin - Elementary Foreign Language as an Approved Area. Be fluent in Mandarin-Chinese language. Possess Arizona Identity-Verified (IVP) fingerprint clearance card.
