Student Intern

Location: Multiple Sites

Temporary Position

Payment:  $14.35/hour through timesheets

Class times range from 2:45 PM - 4:30 PM.

Days of Week: Monday - Thursday

Purpose Statement

The Student Intern will support the educational environment at one of our 21st CCLC Sites by engaging with students and assisting staff in various programs and activities. This role is designed for enthusiastic individuals who are passionate about education and eager to contribute to a positive school community.

Essential Functions

  • Engage with Students: Interact with students to foster a supportive and inclusive atmosphere, helping them feel comfortable and motivated in their learning environments.
  • Participate in Programs: Collaborate with the 21st CCLC staff in the planning and implementation of school programs and events.
  • Assist Staff: Provide support to teachers and administrative staff with daily tasks, including lesson preparation, classroom management, and student assessments, ensuring a smooth and effective learning experience.
  • Facilitate Communication: Act as a liaison between students and staff, encouraging open communication and feedback to enhance the school community.
  • Promote Positive Behavior: Encourage and model positive behavior among students, reinforcing school values and promoting a respectful and safe environment.

Other Functions

Performs other related duties as assigned by the Site Coordinator.

Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

SKILLS are required to perform single tasks using existing skills. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adhering to safety practices and procedures.

KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math; read and follow instructions; and understand written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include concepts of grammar and punctuation; stages of child development and learning styles; age-appropriate activities; school safety and security practices; stages of child development and learning styles; age-appropriate activities; concepts of grammar and punctuation.

ABILITY is required to schedule activities; collate data; and use basic, job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others; work with data utilizing specific, defined processes; and operate equipment using defined methods. Ability is also required to work with a diversity of individuals; work with specific, job-related data; and utilize specific, job-related equipment. Some problem-solving may be required to identify issues and select action plans. Problem-solving with data requires following prescribed guidelines, and problem-solving with equipment is limited. Specific ability-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: communicating with diverse groups; and working as part of a team.

Responsibility

Responsibilities include: working with immediate supervision; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled as a Junior or Senior in a PVSchools High School.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Passion for working with students and contributing to their development.

Work Environment

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 10% sitting, 45% walking, and 45% standing. The job is performed under some temperature extremes and conditions with some exposure to the risk of injury and/or illness.

Experience: Job-related experience is not required.
